I am committed to educating families about balancing priorities and equipping students with the tools required to manage the complex transition out of the secure nest and into college and/or career life.

I am a Marriage Family Therapist and credentialed School Counselor with a solid background in financial aid. In my 20 years of experience counseling the spectrum of students, elementary to university, I’ve learned that academic performance is impacted when obstacles to learning are present.  The transition to college is a major life change and many students may not have the tools to navigate this vital life experience.  Whether the distraction is social, behavioral, financial, or psychological your student needs resources to call upon when the college experience becomes overwhelming.

Most importantly, not every child is called to the higher education experience. Yes, you heard me.  Although we live in a community where many people have accumulated college degrees, the reality is that not everyone is cut out for the traditional academic mold.   Think of Walt Disney, Bill Gates, Mark Twain, William Shakespeare, Steve Jobs, Henry Ford and  Mark Zuckerberg, just to name a few.  I spent many years counseling students in alternative education, and observed that the largest, yet most subtle, obstacle to success is the misconception that NOT attending college equates with the failure to thrive.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The transition out of high school and into a specialized vocation or onto a specific career path requires just as much planning and preparation.

What is YOUR path?
